MPPNV spokesperson Dave Schwartz appears at a press conference announcing a challenge to Nevada residents. MPP has offered a $10,000 prize to anyone who can disprove three scientifically supported statements that show marijuana is safer than alcohol. This segment was aired KLAS-CBS 8 Las Vegas. 09/23/2009

The opinions expressed below by our viewers and posters do not necessarily represent the opinions of the Marijuana Policy Project. These views are those of the individual authors alone. MPP does not condone or support the illegal use of marijuana. We do encourage open and frank discussion, but if a comment has been posted that is in some way significantly inappropriate, please e-mail us at socialnetwork@mpp.org to report it. Both can lead to violence. Both can cause you to lose your job. Both can destroy your life. The difference is that marijuana only contributes to these things because its illegal. And the “gateway drug” argument is only used as an excuse when the opposing party has no solid proof of what they’re saying. You can always tell when they speak that they don’t actually believe what they’re saying. Watch her facial expressions. There is no “gateway drug”. The only “gateway” to more serious drugs is your own lack of self control and lack of ability to moderate.
The marijuana plant and it’s hemp fibers are the fastest and most easily cultivated renewable resource known to man. They can be made into threads, rope, paper and FUEL. A renewable fuel resource? Yessir, ethanol can be made with this wonderful plant as well. Not to mention the almost limitless nutritional value of the seeds and oils.

Real talk Jay, real talk.
The general public is so ill-informed about marijuana because of the lies that the government spread about it. Of coarse there are some bad things about marijuana but there’s consequences to everything you do in life. You can trip down the stairs at any time or get hit by a truck crossing the street. If we took the governments attitude with marijuana and applied it to other things, pretty much everything would be illegal. No fast food, no trucks, no stairs, no water blah blah blah.
Fuck the Po-lice.

It’s been a month and no winners of the prize money? Big surprise… :^)
This is an excellent challenge and cements the fact that the claims being made by U.S. govt politicians and drug enforcement members are bogus and have no merit in the realm of real scientific debate.
Great job MPP Nevada!

From the past and many years to come, Governments around the world; especially ours will try to keep marijuana to their selves. Until someone finds away to use marijuana to control people, they’ll try and keep it illegal.

You know I’m really upset that Wyoming doesn’t have a single legislature with the guts to introduce a medical marijuana bill. I run rollingpapers.com and am in Wyoming, and I am a Montana medical marijuana card holder, it’s really frustrating.

No one has played the hemp card yet. Why not? If it’s ‘more green’ to use hemp in any way, you’d think that the green movement would have headed this way. Why are the shows about marijuana prohibition about “drugs”. Why is it not about hemp?
