Neal Levine Discusses Plans for Nevada

MPP’s Neal Levine talks with Dana Gentry about the increasing support for taxing and regulating marijuana like alcohol and the rewards of such a system. He also discusses the plans for a ballot initiative to be voted on in 2012. Mr. Levine is the Director of the Marijuana Policy Project of Nevada. 06/11/2009

It’s very sad that the government will only release studies funded by the only agency that profits from the prohibition of marijuana, leaving out the thousands of medical doctors and scientists that argue the contrary. Since marijuana consists of 47.5% of all drug related arrests, the D.E.A. is against legalization because they’d get a sharp drop in funding. Why do we allow the government to undeniably look the other way when it comes to these studies?
