As a user of marijuana for medical purposes, I find that it is the only thing that keeps my Fibromyalgia in check. I live in the Midwest and we get all the weather, rain, humidity, snow, blizzards, dryness, freezing rain, hail, tornadoes, straight-
winds (as dangerous as a tornado), dryness to the point of crop failure. We get it all – except Hurricanes. Our temps vary from -20F to 95F and my “fibro” feels it all, even more than my arthritis. Actually, the “high” I get from the drug gets in the way, rather than enhances the experience. Depending on the quality of merchandise I acquire, I may stagger to bed. I have to be extremely careful not to leave something on the stove cooking, or I’ll forget it, I have to make sure that all my chores for the day are finished, including my conversations with friends who don’t know I am using, because if they talked to me, they’d know for sure something wasn’t right.
I have been using for over 5 years and am NOT addicted. I quit a couple of months ago, for a month, just to see if I could, without much trouble.
I did, no problem, except my fibromyalgia symptoms were fierce, and I didn’t sleep as well. It certainly hasn’t led to other drug usage. I take my other meds as prescribed my my M.D. and just use the pot on an “as needed basis”.
All-in-all, it is really no big deal as far as using is concerned, EXCEPT THAT:
1. WE CANNOT CONTROL THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT (POT) WE BUY ( Meaning the strength and the additives, which could be harmful.)
2. WE HATE MAKING OURSELVES CRIMINALS. (most of us are adult,
law-abiding citizens who just happen to be very ill, and we’re just trying to cope.
3. WE ARE NOT OUT THERE ADVOCATING THE USE OF MARIJUANA FOR EVERYONE! (Nor are we inside sharing it with our youngsters! We regard this as a medicine!
Thanks for reading my little opinion, I am a 60 y.o. woman with arthritis since 1967 and Fibromyalgia for as long as I can remember (diagnosed in 1996). Marijuana user since 2004.
