Marijuana will only be legalized after state and federal government identifies a way to make money from it. If we’re serious about securing our borders, protecting our children from drug-dealing murderers, and pumping some much-needed revenue into the public treasury, we’ll implement a Personal Use and Cultivation Permit, similar to a fishing permit, allowing ordinary Americans to grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.
Sold by the States and splitting the revenue 50-50 with the Federal treasury, if the permit cost $100 per year, and if even one-third of the estimated 30Million Americans who use marijuana each year were to obtain such a permit, it would pump a Billion dollars into the public pocketbook AND rip the guts out of the criminal drug gangs’ cash flow.
Right now, we put our own children in prison with violent criminals for doing something that both our current Democratic President and the recent Republican Vice Presidential candidate acknowledge having done themselves.
It’s time to put the drug dealing criminals out of business and let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.

What does MPP need in order to provoke the Nation’s population as well as their Politicians into action?

    Money?
    Volunteers?
    Time to grow?

I could not agree with you more. They say on average that a person every 45 seconds goes to jail for something to do with marijuana. And they wonder why our jails are over crowded. If they would just legalize it and get it over and done with something a lot less likely to kill you than alcohol. Thousands die every year from alcohol and 0 from marijuana use. But yet they get to even advertise alcohol on TV . Like someone handing a drunk the keys to his car, huh? You tell me I am just stating the facts here.

I seriously think they should legalize pot. I agree with everything everyone on here has said. I’ve just recently stopped smoking pot. I started when I was 13. I’m almost 17 now.. Pot never did anything negative to my memory. I DO have a bad memory, but not because of smoking marijuana. And I found out that I have a medical problem with my eye that marijuana can actually help with, but it’s not legal. They could pretty much be risking people’s lives by not having it legal. That may sound weird to the people that are against this. But. To each their own opinion. This is my opinion, and I’m actually having to debate about this in school.

Smoking 1 joints is proven (according to a group of scientists in New Zealand anyway) to be the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes (20 cigs). I don’t see any good in weed. Everyone has always tried to tell me it isn’t as bad as cigs for you. That’s a crock.

  6. Medicine has always looked kindly on MJ. The benefits – properly funneled, include control, research and development and desperately needed income (via tax or use fees). Unfortunately people’s fears prevent a simple substance from being made legally available to THOSE THAT CHOSE TO USE it.

Years ago alcohol was the devil! Prohibition proved to be one of the stupidest government led-witch-hunts. Alcohol- which clearly affects a person’s alertness, response and effectiveness, is LEGAL. Any 21 year old can purchase enough alcohol to kill themselves. Any 18 year old can buy enough cigarrettes to hurt himself, perhaps even permanently. NO ONE can over-dose on weed. Come on people. Think economics, and trends. Didn’t everyone cry “change” with this new President. With change comes new responsibilities. I live in a state with medicinal regulations on weed, but the attack on casual smokers is still vivid.

This is response to the comment by TM. Many marijuana users are concerned with the carcinogenic effects of SMOKING the herb. That is why more and more users are turning to alternative ways to partake. Ingestion of “weed” has been around for a long time but due to inconvienience and extended time to feel effects, most users continue to burn and smoke. VAPORIZATION is really beginning to take over as the preferred way to enjoy the effects of marijuana with carcinogenic intake being reduced anywhere from 89 to 99%. It all depends on the quality of the vaporizor used. Besides, whether SMOKING tobacco or marijuana or SEAWEED, for that matter, it’s all bad for your lungs and body! It’s just a matter of whether or not the government has a right to tell you what you can or can not have in your body. Booze is damaging but legal. Marijuana is damaging but illegal. Tobacco is damaging but legal. Marijuana…you get the point. The arguement can actually brought further concerning a citizens right to choose what’s in his or hers body. Women have the right to choose whether or not they want to continue a pregnancy or not but taxpaying citizens don’t have the right to choose which substances they can have in their body? Our laws are wildly inconsistent. Also, if you can’t see any good in weed, then I invite you to talk to some of the chemo patients or glaucoma sufferers that use it for relief of their symptoms when nothing else worked. You may see things differently when you hear what they have to say. Maybe you won’t. I hope you do.

TM, I hope you know marijuana can be ingested too! Meaning you don’t have to smoke it…That research you found sounds like a “crock” to me and I bet you are a tobacco user, so don’t be so hypocritical.

Tm, I think you need to actually do more research http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oPaSnjHawo
